{"id":2293,"date":"2026-03-18T00:52:00","date_gmt":"2026-03-17T23:52:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/troupova.com\/?p=2293"},"modified":"2026-03-18T00:49:30","modified_gmt":"2026-03-17T23:49:30","slug":"viktor-ullmann-jejich-hudba-zni-dal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/troupova.com\/en\/viktor-ullmann-jejich-hudba-zni-dal\/","title":{"rendered":"Jejich hudba zn\u00ed d\u00e1l (Their Music Lives On)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With this year&#8217;s closing concert, the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.klasikaplus.cz\/ullmannovske-slavnosti-oslavi-paty-rocnik-festival-nove-propoji-prahu-usti-nad-labem-i-tesinsko\/\">Ullmann Festival<\/a><\/strong> returns &#8220;to its roots&#8221; \u2013 to \u010cesk\u00fd T\u011b\u0161\u00edn, the birthplace of Viktor Ullmann, and to the Schomre Schabos synagogue, which has long been associated with the festival. The song recital <em>Their Music Lives On<\/em> will commemorate the music of composers who, like Ullmann, did not survive Nazi persecution. It will also feature music by two contemporary composers who were inspired by the fate of persecuted artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The concert will feature songs by <strong>Erwin Schulhoff<\/strong> (1894\u20131942) and <strong>Viktor Ullmann<\/strong> (1898\u20131944), as well as works by <strong>Karl Horwitz<\/strong> (1884\u20131925) \u2013 a Viennese composer whose song cycle was recently rediscovered by <strong>Irena Troupov\u00e1<\/strong> and will be performed in its Czech premiere. The concert will also feature a composition by <strong>Rudolf Karl<\/strong> (1880\u20131945), a participant in the anti-Nazi resistance, as well as a musical setting of verses by the French poet and resistance fighter <strong>Robert Desnos<\/strong> (1900\u20131945) by the prominent contemporary Czech composer <strong>Sylva Smejkalov\u00e1<\/strong> (1974).
